The positives: The price is very reasonable,; similar to most hotels in the area if not a bit cheaper. It wasn't advertised on their website, but they do include a small continental breakfast in the morning (coffee, pastries, waffles, eggs, etc.). Lastly, the view! The view from our room could not be beat. Our room had a balcony and sitting out, drinking coffee, and enjoying the overlook was something that I don't think that I will forget anytime soon.
I booked a single night stay here with my girlfriend while on a hiking trip around the area.
The negatives: The lodge is a bit run down and is in need of a modern update. The bathrooms in the rooms kinda reminded me of the ones from my grade school.
This is a very underrated gem of a place, tucked away in a beautiful area. Yes it's a few miles from the main stream of things. The have a very nice play area for kids. The grounds are very clean and well maintained. The staff is very friendly. The rooms are comfortable and clean. The view from our fourth floor room with a balcony facing the Gorge was beautiful. Please keep in mind this not the Waldorf Astoria. If you go expecting those kinds of accommodations you will be disappointed. On the other if you are looking for a nice clean inexpensive place that is quite and has a great view, Hawks Nest Lodge is an excellent choice. We drove down from Johnstown Pa. It was well worth it. We will stay here again on our next trip down.
